NEW ORLEANS – The App State men and the Arkansas State women have been predicted to win the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships as determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches. The Sun Belt on Wednesday released its 2022 Cross Country Preseason Coaches’ Polls.
The App State men earned 76 total points and five-of-nine first place votes. The Mountaineers claimed Sun Belt men’s cross country titles in 2017 and 2019. The Arkansas State men, who won the program’s first-ever Sun Belt cross country crown last season, were a close second with 74 points and three first-place votes. South Alabama, which has nine titles all-time and last won in 2020, also earned a first-place nod.
The Arkansas State women, who have captured three consecutive Sun Belt women’s cross country titles, garnered 167 total points and 11-of-13 first-place votes. App State was predicted to finish second with 152 points and two first-place votes.
The 2022 Sun Belt Conference Championships are set for Saturday, October 29 at Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley, Ala.
