Sun Belt Conference Partners with U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health

NEW ORLEANS — As it continues to prioritize student-athlete health, safety and well-being, the Sun Belt Conference has partnered with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH) to provide comprehensive athletic healthcare consultation, policy and procedure development and educational resources to the league’s 14 member institutions. 

“With student-athlete health, safety and well-being at the forefront of what we do in the Sun Belt Conference, we are excited to partner with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health to provide educational resources and support to the sports medicine personnel on each of our campuses,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill.  
 
An independent, third-party provider of athlete health and safety consultation, education and compliance, USCAH will deliver athletic healthcare resources, advising and annual online assessment to the Sun Belt Conference and its 14 member institutions.

"We are committed to collaborating and implementing initiatives that will transform healthcare and safety standards in the Sun Belt, benefitting its member institutions and constituents."
 
The USCAH staff is comprised of sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, university athletic administrators and former student-athletes will nearly 300 years of experience in athletics healthcare and administration. Founded in 2017, USCAH is committed to the health, safety and welfare of athletes at all levels and is dedicated to the mission of collaborating with every athletic organization to inspire and ensure athlete health and safety is a priority.
 
USCAH-led education programs available to Sun Belt Conference member institutions will include the Comprehensive Mental Health Program, Preventing and Preparing for Catastrophic Injury in Sport and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Sports. 
 
The partnership also includes access to the Athletic Healthcare Administrator Association (AHAA) for Sun Belt athletic trainers, team physicians and administrators as well as assessments of the institutional athletic healthcare and safety personnel and programming. A comprehensive assessment for all institutions will be provided over a three-year period.
