MADISON, Miss. – Troy sophomore Brantley Scott fired a five-under-par 67 on Monday and the Trojans shot four-under-par as a team to lead the 2023 Sun Belt Men’s Golf Championship by four strokes following the opening 18 holes at Annandale Golf Club.
As a team, Troy carded a four-under-par 284 and placed all four of its scorers in the top-20 individually to lead the way. The Trojans were the only team to shoot under par on Monday. Louisiana is in second place with an even-par 288, while Southern Miss is third with a one-over-par 289.
Scott headlines the individual leaderboard with a five-under-par 67. It marked his 10th time shooting in the 60s this season. He was one of 11 golfers to shoot better than par in the first round. South Alabama’s Hugo Thyr is in second place with a four-under-par 68, while Louisiana’s Malan Potgieter is in third with a three-under-par 69.
The second round of stroke play begins at 8:30 a.m. CT Tuesday with
