Championship Central | Round 3 Results

MADISON, Miss. — Georgia Southern, South Alabama, Louisiana and Troy advanced to match play following 54 holes of stroke play at the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Men’s Golf Championship. 
 
The Eagles earned the No. 1 seed with a score of 3-under par 861 at a team and will take on No. 4-seeded Troy in semifinal action beginning at hole No. 1 at 7:30 a.m. CT Thursday. The Trojans carded a score of 6-over par 870 to earn a spot in match play. 
 
South Alabama shot 2-under par 862—including a 7-under par final round—to claim the No. 2 seed. The Jaguars will square off against No. 3-seeded Louisiana in the other semifinal match teeing off from hole No. 10 at 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The Ragin’ Cajuns earned a 54-hole score of 6-over par 870 to qualify for match play.
 
With equivalent non-counting scores, Louisiana won the tiebreaker over Troy for the No. 3 seed by virtue of having a lower fifth counting score than the Trojans. 
 
South Alabama freshman Hugo Thyr turned in a 6-under par 66 in the final round of stroke play to earn Sun Belt individual medalist honors. Thyr finished 8-under par 208 (68-74-66—208) at the par-72, 7,190-yard Annandale Golf Club. 
 
Coastal Carolina (+10, 874), Arkansas State (+18, 882), ULM (+20, 884), Texas State (+22, 886), James Madison (+22, 886), Southern Miss (+24, 888), Georgia State (+30, 894), App State (+35, 899), Marshall (+45, 909) and Old Dominion (+48, 912) rounded out the conference championship field. 
 
With inclement weather in the forecast, semifinal matches will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT Thursday and will be live scored via Golfstat. The ESPN+ broadcast will begin at 9:00 a.m. CT. The championship match will follow the conclusion of semifinal play.
