PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – James Madison and Old Dominion entered as the two top seeds and won their semifinal matches to advance to the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Tennis Championship at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
Top-seeded and No. 33 nationally ranked Old Dominion picked up another 4-0 sweep, as second-seeded James Madison defeated Marshall 4-2 in the nightcap. Both teams in their first year in the conference advance to the championship match for the first time.
The two teams were unable to make up the regular season match that was postponed as the in-state rivals will face off in an SBC title match for the second time this season. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ at 1 p.m. ET.
Match 11: (1) Old Dominion 4, (4) Georgia Southern 0

Old Dominion won its second straight sweep of the tournament over Georgia Southern.
Georgia Southern finishes the season 19-6 and led 5-3 on doubles court two that went unfinished.
Old Dominion (17-4) won the doubles point as the pairing of Shahar Biran and Alesya Yakubovich won 6-2 on court three. The First Team All-Conference duo of Sofia Johnson and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya won 6-2 on court one to secure the early point.
In singles, the Monarchs did not lose a single set, and only trailed in one match 2-1 that was in the second set. No. 35 nationally ranked and Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Sasnouskaya won her match 6-3, 6-0 to put the second point on the board. Alexandra Viktorovich followed on court five winning 6-1, 6-1 as Yakubovich finished the match on court four 6-2, 6-2.
Match 12: (2) James Madison 4, (6) Marshall 2

Second-seeded James Madison used the momentum from the doubles point to defeat sixth-seeded Marshall 4-2.
Marshall (16-9) won the first singles match on court six as Sophia Hurrion earned the 6-2, 6-1 win to tie the match at one. Andjela Lopicic followed shortly after to tie the match at two once again with the win on court five 6-3, 6-0.
James Madison (15-7) won the doubles point on courts one and two as the pairing of Daria Munteanu and Daniela Voloh won 6-1. Kyle Moulin and Ines Oliveira provided the fireworks on court one with the 6-4 win to secure the doubles point.
After Marshall tied the match, Voloh won 6-1, 6-2 on court three to give the Dukes the 2-1 advantage. Daria Afanasyeva provided a win on court two, 6-2, 6-3, to give JMU the 3-2 edge in the match. Once again, Munteanu decided the match on court four with the 7-6, 7-5 win.
