Bracket Set for 2023 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship

NEW ORLEANS – Seeds and matchups for the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship were announced Saturday evening following the conclusion of the regular season. 
 
The Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship will take place from May 10-13 at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park on the campus of Louisiana in Lafayette, La., with 10 teams competing in the single-elimination tournament.
 
Louisiana (43-13, 22-2 SBC) concluded the regular season on a nine-game winning streak, securing its fourth consecutive and 19th all-time Sun Belt regular-season title and the No. 1 seed as the top finisher in the Sun Belt West Division. 
 
Marshall (43-9, 17-5 SBC) earns the No. 2 seed after finishing with the best record in the Sun Belt East Division. The Herd put together an impressive season, taking down their first Top 25 opponent since 2008 and surpassing the 40-win mark for just the fourth time in program history. Seeds 3-10 were determined based on overall conference winning percentage. 
 
No. 3 seed South Alabama, No. 4 seed Troy, No. 5 seed Texas State, and No. 6 seed James Madison will earn byes into the quarterfinals, while No. 7 seed Coastal Carolina will take on No. 10 seed Southern Miss in the first round along with No. 8 seed ULM and No. 9 seed Georgia State.  
 
All nine tournament games will be nationally broadcast on ESPN+, concluding with the championship game at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 13.
