Marshall, West Virginia and James Madison Remain in the Top 10 of The United Soccer Coaches Poll

NEW ORLEANS – For a second consecutive week, three Sun Belt men’s soccer teams rank in the top 10 of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25.

At No. 5, Marshall surpasses West Virginia to become the highest ranked Sun Belt team. The Herd are currently on a three-game win streak and won their first two matches in conference play. Marshall concluded non-conference play with its fourth shutout of the season defeating a ranked VCU team last week. The Herd currently sit on top of the Sun Belt standings with six points and a 2-0-0 record and hold the second highest RPI in the nation.

West Virginia fell one spot to No. 7 following a draw with Kentucky over the weekend. West Virginia continues to have one of the top offenses in the country averaging 2.25 goals per game, good for second best in the conference. The Mountaineers take on Bucknell Tuesday evening before resuming conference action this weekend.

James Madison holds on to its No.10 ranking in the poll. Last Tuesday, the Dukes took on Radford and earned their sixth shutout of the season. Their six shutouts on the year are the second most in the country. James Madison’s stellar defense also boasts the lowest goals against average in the nation (.375), the highest save percentage (.885) and the highest shutout percentage (.750).

Georgia Southern and South Carolina are both receiving votes in the latest poll, sitting just outside the top 25.
