NEW ORLEANS – James Madison redshirt freshman guard Bryce Lindsay has been named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week following an impressive shooting performance during the team’s three non-conference tournament games during the third week of the season.

Lindsay scored in double-figures three times and averaged 18.7 points per game off the bench for the Dukes who finished third place at the Boardwalk Battle in Daytona Beach, Fla. He shot 19-of-30 (.633) from the field and 13-of-21 (.619) from 3-point range, while also dishing out six assists.

Against UIC on Nov. 21, Lindsay scored 23 of a career-high 28 points in the first half while making 10-of-11 shots from the field and 5-of-6 from deep. He became the first freshman and 25th NCAA Division I player since 2004-05 to record 25 points with 10 made field goals at 90 percent or better, five 3-pointers, and five rebounds in a single game to help James Madison score a season-high 99 points.

The Baltimore, Md., native followed up the 28-point outburst with 17 against UC San Diego on Nov. 22 and 11 more against Jacksonville State on Nov. 23.

In seven games this season, Lindsay is 21-for-43 (.488) from behind the arc which ranks third in the Sun Belt while his 21 treys are tied for second in the league with teammate Xavier Brown. He is one of eight Division I players averaging over 14 points per game and shooting at least 45 percent from beyond the arc off the bench this season.
