NEW ORLEANS – South Alabama’s Cam Hill and Coastal Carolina’s Jake Books earned the Sun Belt baseball weekly accolades after leading their teams to 4-1 and 4-0 weeks, respectively.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Cam Hill, South Alabama
(Sr., LHP – Madison, Ala.)
Jaguars senior left-handed pitcher Cam Hill threw seven scoreless innings for South Alabama in an 11-1 series-clinching win over Jacksonville State. The Madison, Ala., product struck out five while scattering five hits. Hill held the Gamecocks to a .208 batting average and conceded just one extra-base hit—a double—in his second appearance on the hill for South Alabama.
Baseball Player of the Week
Jake Books, Coastal Carolina
(So., OF – Royersford, Pa.)
Chanticleers sophomore outfielder Jake Books hit .750 (9-for-12) and slugged 1.417 in a 4-0 week for Coastal Carolina. The Royersford, Pa., native tallied eight RBI and four runs scored. Books hit safely in all four games and posted three extra-base hits—a triple and two home runs. Books paces the nationally-ranked Chanticleers with a .500 batting average and 1.050 slugging percentage on the season.
