NEW ORLEANS – Following standout performances on the opening weekend of conference play, Marshall’s Bryce Blevins and Texas State’s Daylan Pena secured the Sun Belt baseball weekly honors. 
 
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Bryce Blevins, Marshall 
(So., LHP – Louisa, Ky.) 
 
Thundering Herd sophomore left-handed pitcher Bryce Blevins carded a gem in his first career start in Sun Belt Conference play. The Louisa, Ky., native tossed 9.0 innings of one-run baseball on the road at Southern Miss, conceding just two hits and two walks while striking out four on just 90 pitches. Blevins carried a no-hitter through 7.1 frames and was pulled from a tie game in the bottom of the 10th inning after holding Golden Eagles hitters to a .071 batting average. 
 
Baseball Player of the Week
Daylan Pena, Texas State
(Jr., OF – Corpus Christi, Texas) 
 
Bobcats junior outfielder Daylan Pena hit .444 (8-for-18) and slugged 1.111 in a 4-1 week for Texas State. The Corpus Christi, Texas, product accumulated a double, a triple, three home runs, five runs scored and nine RBI on the week. Pena hit each of his three home runs in a 17-7 series-clinching victory over App State, including a pair in an eight-run eighth inning to become the first Bobcat on record with two home runs in the same inning.
