NEW ORLEANS – Texas State junior Jack Burke and James Madison redshirt senior Kendall Turner have been named Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week after finishing near the top of the individual leaderboards and guiding their respective teams to third-place finishes.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Jack Burke, Texas State
(Jr., Orange, Texas)
Burke finished tied for third on the leaderboard at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston and helped Texas State place third as a team. Burke shot 4-under par with a 212 (71-71-70) three-round total and was the only player to shoot under par in all three rounds. He also tallied 13 birdies, which were tied for the third most in the 100-player field.
Burke’s performance helped lift Texas State to its best team finish of the season as they beat six top-100 teams in the national Clippd rankings and two in the top 50. The Bobcats finished only three strokes back of the tournament champion, No. 6 Texas Tech. It was Burke's fourth time this season shooting under par in a 54-hole tournament while the 212 matched his second best score this year.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Kendall Turner, James Madison

Redshirt senior Kendall Turner finished fourth out of 81 golfers after carding a three-round total of 207 (-6) to lead James Madison to a third place finish out of 15 teams at the Western Kentucky University Spring Break Shootout at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
Turner finished with eight birdies through three rounds and fired her tournament-best 67 (-4) in round one, which featured four birdies to go along with an eagle on the second hole. The weekly honor is Turner’s third of the season and fourth by a Dukes player after accomplishing the feat in weeks two and four, respectively, during the fall slate.
