MADISON, Miss. – Arkansas State continues to pace the 14-team field at the 2024 Sun Belt Men’s Golf Championship, with Red Wolves student-athletes holding three of the top four spots on the individual leaderboard.
The Red Wolves carded a score of seven-under par 281 to extend their lead to 17 strokes at the par-72, 7,190-yard Annandale Golf Club.
ULM moved into second place by shooting 1-under par 287 on the day, while Marshall moved into Wednesday’s top grouping with a 2-over par 290.
Arkansas State is 7-under par 569 (288-281) through 36 holes, while ULM sits 10-over par 586 (299-287) and Marshall is 13-over par 589 (299-290).
Red Wolves sophomore Thomas Schmidt fired a three-under par 69 to maintain the individual lead at 7-under par 137 (68-69—137). Schmidt’s Arkansas State teammates senior Devyn Pappas (74-67—141) and freshman Jake Lile (69-72—141) are tied with Marshall junior Ryan Bilby (73-68—141) for second place at 3-under par 141.
Five teams are within two strokes of the all-important fourth-place position—the last qualifying spot for match play—Troy (+15, 297-294—591), Southern Miss (+15, 301-290—591), Texas State (+16, 303-289—592), Louisiana (+17, 301-292—593) and Coastal Carolina (+17, 303-290—593).
James Madison (+20, 302-294—596), Georgia Southern (+21, 301-296—597), South Alabama (+23, 303-296—599), Old Dominion (+28, 305-299—604), App State (+28, 311-293—604), and Georgia State (+38, 305-309—614) round out the conference championship field.
The third and final round of stroke play begins at 8:30 a.m. CT on Wednesday and will be
broadcast live on ESPN+ and
