Arkansas State Sweeps 2024 Season's First Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Arkansas State swept the first Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors of the 2024 campaign, as redshirt junior midfielder Keelyn Peacock and junior goalkeeper Damaris Deschaine led the Red Wolves to a pair of season-opening wins.
 
Peacock is Arkansas State’s first Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week since Sarah Sodoma on October 7, 2020, while Deschaine is the program’s first Defensive Player of the Week since Olivia Luther on October 10 of last season.
 
The Red Wolves’ duo is the first to claim the league’s offensive and defensive weekly honors since James Madison accomplished the feat on October 11, 2022.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Keelyn Peacock, Arkansas State

Peacock scored two goals in a pair of home wins against Little Rock and Southern Indiana. She scored the team’s second goal of the match in the 36th minute of a 2-0 victory over the Trojans on Aug. 15 before tallying the second goal of the contest in the 37th minute of a 3-0 win over the Screaming Eagles on Aug. 18. The Stillwater, N.Y., native posted a shot percentage of .200 and a shot-on-goal percentage of .400 across 99 minutes of action last week.
 
Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Damaris Deschaine, Arkansas State

Deschaine held the opposition scoreless over 168 minutes of action in the Red Wolves’ two shutout wins over Little Rock and Southern Indiana. She recorded eight saves and doubled her career win total in the team’s victories. Deschaine made five stops in the season opener against the Trojans before registering three more against the Screaming Eagles.
