NEW ORLEANS – Troy alum and Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal rushed for over 100 yards and caught a touchdown pass while Georgia Southern product and Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Kindle Vildor recorded an interception to highlight Sun Belt Conference alumni performances during Week 6 of the 2025 National Football League (NFL) season.
Sun Belt football alumni held 80 roster spots on 31-of-32 NFL rosters with 45 on active rosters, 22 on practice squads and 13 on injured or other reserve lists. In Week 6 contests, 40 saw game action with 13 earning the start for their respective teams. One Sun Belt alum on an active roster was on a bye week.
The 2023 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, Vidal earned his first NFL start and established career-highs in carries (18), rushing yards (124) and receptions (3) while
scoring his second professional touchdown on a seven-yard reception in the third quarter of a 29-27 road win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Vidal’s four longest runs went for 38, 27, 19 and 13 yards, respectively, as he crossed the century mark for the first time in his career. He also added 14 receiving yards in the contest.
Now in his sixth NFL season, Vildor made his third appearance of the season for the Bucs on Sunday and tallied a season-high five tackles while adding two defended passes to his individual line in a 30-19 home win over the San Francisco 49ers. Vildor’s impact was felt when he
intercepted the 49ers’ first pass attempt – the third play on the 49ers’ first offensive drive of the game – and returned it 13 yards before being ruled down by contact. The pick was the second of his career and first since 2022 when he was a member of the Chicago Bears.
Also on the defensive side, App State alum and Arizona Cardinals linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither led all Sun Belt alums with eight tackles and one pass defended against the Indianapolis Colts, as Troy alum and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Reddy Steward recorded five tackles and forced a fumble against the Carolina Panthers.
Two Sun Belt alumni recorded sacks in respective Monday Night Football games, as South Alabama product and Washington Commanders starting safety Jeremy Reaves made five tackles and notched his second-career sack for a loss of two yards late in the fourth quarter against the Bears. Additionally, Troy alum and second-year Buffalo Bills edge rusher Javon Solomon tallied the second sack of his NFL career for a four-yard loss midway through the first quarter against the Atlanta Falcons.
On special teams, Arkansas State alumnus and New Orleans Saints kicker Blake Grupe scored a season-high 13 points, going 4-for-4 on field goals with one extra point against the New England Patriots on Sunday. His field goals were converted from distances of 54, 48, 38 and 34 yards, respectively.
