NEW ORLEANS – Career-best performances lift South Alabama’s Kentrel Bullock, James Madison’s Drew Spinogatti and App State’s Ian Ratliff to Sun Belt football weekly accolades following team wins.
Football Offensive Player of the Week
Kentrel Bullock, South Alabama
(Sr., RB – Columbia, Miss.)
Jaguars senior running back Kentrel Bullock posted a career-best performance to propel South Alabama to a 42-35 victory over Southern Miss. The Columbia, Miss., native carried the ball 23 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns—both career highs—in the win. His fourth-quarter 64-yard touchdown run was the longest rush of his career and proved to be the difference for the Jaguars. Bullock, who averaged 8.1 yards per carry on the day, became the first running back in the Sun Belt to surpass the 1,000-yard rushing plateau this season.
Football Defensive Player of the Week
Drew Spinogatti, James Madison
(Jr., LB – Winter Garden, Fla.)
Dukes junior linebacker Drew Spinogatti tallied a career-best 16 tackles in James Madison’s 24-20 non-conference win over Washington State. The Winter Garden, Fla., product also added two pass breakups in his first start of the season. Spinogatti’s tackle total was the season-high for any Duke and the most since Jacob Dobbs’ 17 against Georgia Southern on Oct. 19, 2024. The win was the ninth-straight for James Madison and the 30th-consecutive against non-conference opposition at home, dating back to the start of the 2016 season.
Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Ian Ratliff, App State
(RS So., P – Humble, Texas)
Mountaineers redshirt sophomore punter Ian Ratliff played a critical role in App State’s 26-24 win over Marshall to keep its Bowl Season hopes alive. The Humble, Texas, native averaged 47.7 yards on six punts, including a career-long 70-yard boot in the fourth quarter. The punt was the longest by a Mountaineer since 2009. As the holder, Ratliff was part of the field goal unit that went 2-for-2 on the day, including converting what proved to be the game-winning 23-yarder with 2:02 to play.
