NEW ORLEANS – For the second time this season, Georgia Southern graduate guard Spudd Webb has been named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after pacing the Eagles in a pair of non-conference victories over Louisiana Tech and Gardner-Webb.
Webb becomes the first Georgia Southern men’s basketball player to earn the Sun Belt’s top weekly honor twice in the same season since Tookie Brown in 2018-19.
Webb averaged 23 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 18-for-28 (.643) from the field and 4-for-7 (.571) beyond the 3-point arc.
In a 77-69 home win over Louisiana Tech on Dec. 3, Webb erupted for a season-high 32 points in 34 minutes on 13-for-14 shooting from the floor, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range, while grabbing eight rebounds and handing out four assists. His near 93-percent field goal percentage established a program record for the Eagles.
A Hartwell, Ga., native, Webb concluded the week with 14 points, three steals, a pair of assists and one block in an 88-84 road win over Gardner-Webb on Dec. 6.
