ORLANDO, Fla. - The 2025 Sun Belt Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships kicked off Wednesday night inside the Rosen Aquatics & Fitness Center on Wednesday.
Marshall’s 200 Medley Relay team of Kseniia Luniushina, Paige Banton, Madeline Hart and Audrey West won the first event of the championship with a time of 1:40.08. James Madison finished second in the event with a time of 1:40.21 as the Dukes trimmed more than three seconds off their seeded time. Old Dominion (1:41.28) and Georgia Southern (1:42.90) rounded out the scoring. All four relay teams swam faster than their seeded time as Old Dominion swam nearly five seconds faster than the seeded time.
The Dukes stormed back in the 800 Freestyle Relay capturing first in 7:13.16 with the team of Madison Wimmer, Jess Pryne, Jamie Cornwell and Grace Bousum setting a new school record. Marshall finished second in the event to even the scoring on opening day of the championships. Georgia Southern swam a new school record in the event to finish third with the team of Jamison Tiller, Alex Pope, Carsyn Cosman and Zuri Clavo. Old Dominion rounded out the field for a tie in third place in the team scores.
The format for the remainder of the championship will feature morning prelims, followed by diving prelims and consolations. All the evening sessions will feature the finals for the morning swimming and diving events with a relay event to close out the day.
Day two will feature the 500 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley and the 50 Freestyle. The 3-meter Diving prelims and consolations will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday will conclude with the 3-meter Diving final and the 200 Freestyle Relay final.
