NEW ORLEANS – The Arkansas State men’s basketball team was one of 32 teams to be invited and accept an invitation to compete in the 2025 National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
The Red Wolves (24-10) earned the No. 3 seed in the Dallas Region and will host Saint Louis (19-14) in the tournament’s first round on Tuesday, March 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, Ark., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
The NIT semifinals (April 1) and championship (April 3) will be played at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis
The Sun Belt Conference has now had one team invited to compete in the NIT in four consecutive seasons, as Arkansas State will make its fifth appearance in the tournament in program history and its first since 1991. The Red Wolves competed in the College Basketball Invitational last season.
Led by second-year head coach Bryan Hodgson, Arkansas State was one of four teams to win a share of the Sun Belt’s regular season championship with a 13-5 record in league contests. The Red Wolves are the conference’s highest-ranked team in the NCAA’s NET rankings at No. 94.
Arkansas State is led by a pair of all-conference performers, including All-Sun Belt First Team selection and senior guard Taryn Todd as well as junior forward and All-Sun Belt Third Team pick Izaiyah Nelson. Todd averages 14.7 points per game, while Nelson ranks fourth in the Sun Belt with 8.7 rebounds per contest.
