RESULTS | CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
MADISON, Miss. — Coastal Carolina claimed the 2025 Sun Belt Men’s Championship at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss.
This is the second Sun Belt Championship for Coastal Carolina (2018) and the second time they will appear in the NCAA Tournament.
Arkansas State’s Jack Wallis earned the first championship match win, defeating Coastal Carolina’s Trace McDonald, 4&3, in the second pairing. Coastal Carolina’s Drew Sykes pulled the match back even at 1-1-0 by taking down Arkansas State’s Jake Lile, 4&2, in the first pairing.
Coastal Carolina's Trey Crenshaw would earn the Chants second match win with a 5&4 victory over Arkansas State’s Jack Maxey, pulling them up 2-1-0 over the Red Wolves. However, Thomas Schmidt would even the score for Arkansas State with his 4&3 victory over Coastal Carolina’s Max Bengtsson.
Knotted up at 2-2-0, the Sun Belt title would come down to Coastal Carolina’s Jack Lee and Arkansas State’s Chris Somerfield.
Somerfield was 2up on Lee heading into the 17
th hole, but for the fourth time this week they would be sent in for a weather delay, suspending play for an hour.
Coming out of the delay Lee would win the final two holes and send it into a playoff.
On the par four first hole, Somerfield’s putt for birdie would lip out, giving Lee the chance to sink his for the final match point and win the title for Coastal Carolina.
In Thursday morning’s semifinal matches, top-seeded Coastal Carolina took down No. 4 seed Troy, 3-2-0 with four matches unfinished, behind victories by Sykes (3&2), Crenshaw (3&2) and Bengtsson (3&2). No. 2-seeded Arkansas State advanced by besting No. 3 seed Georgia Southern, with wins from Somerfield (2&), Schmidt (7&6) and Maxey (3&2).
Coastal Carolina will await their NCAA Regional destination which will be announced during the selection show on April 30 at 1 p.m. ET on Golf Channel.
