Johnson of Southern Miss Earns Sun Belt Women's Basketball Weekly Honor

NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss graduate student Jakayla Johnson recorded her fourth consecutive 20+ point game to earn Sun Belt women’s basketball player of the week.

Johnson has been consistent through the beginning of Sun Belt play, leading the conference in scoring with a 24.0 per game average. The graduate student started the week with a 26-point performance against Arkansas State, going 6-11 from the floor and hitting 14 free throws. In the teams win over Troy, Johnson netted 30 points going 11-20 from the floor and 4-of-9 from three.
 
Johnson is the only player in the league to have scored over 20 points in a conference game so far this season. The guard is also tied for second most double doubles this season with four.
