NEW ORLEANS – Troy alumnus and Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal contributed as a runner, receiver and returner while scoring a touchdown to headline performances by Sun Belt football alumni during Week 4 of the 2026 National Football League (NFL) season.
A season-high 81 Sun Belt football alumni held roster spots on 28-of-32 NFL rosters with 50 on active rosters, 22 on practice squads and nine on injured or other reserve lists. In Week 4 contests, 42 saw game action with a Sun Belt season-best 22 earning the start for their respective teams.
In his third NFL season since earning 2023 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year with the Trojans, Vidal earned his first start of the season and rushed five times for 25 yards while adding two catches for 11 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, in a 30-23 road loss to the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. The touchdown was the sixth of Vidal’s career (third receiving), as he also returned two kickoffs for 48 yards.
Coastal Carolina product and New York Giants starting tight end Isaiah Likely caught seven passes for 66 yards in a 36-24 home win over the Arizona Cardinals, as former Troy wideout Tez Johnson had two catches for 17 yards, rushed once for 10 yards and returned one punt for 13 yards for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 17-14 home defeat to the Green Bay Packers.
Former Georgia State standout and Bucs’ rookie wide receiver Ted Hurst earned his second start of the season while registering two catches for 25 yards in the contest.
A trio of former Sun Belt kickers scored points for their respective teams, led by Arkansas State product and New York Giants rookie Dominic Zvada who tallied 10 points going 3-for-3 on field goals with two extra points in the win over the Cardinals. Zvada’s field goals were made from distances of 52, 50 and 30 yards, respectively.
Georgia Southern alum and Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass scored eight points going 2-for-2 on field goals with a pair of extra points in a 29-26 home setback to the New England Patriots. Bass’ successful field goals came from distances of 38 and 27 yards.
Georgia State alumnus and Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz contributed six points with a 2-for-3 day on field goals with conversions from 52 and 40 yards in a 24-14 road loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Defensively, five-time All-Pro linebacker and Arkansas State alum Demario Davis racked up 10 tackles and one sack for the second week in a row in the New York Jets’ 23-12 road loss to the Chicago Bears.
A trio of former Louisiana Tech defensive backs were all over the field for their teams on Sunday, as Washington Commanders starting cornerback Amik Robertson made nine tackles and defended one pass in a 30-13 home defeat to the Indianapolis Colts. Kansas City Chiefs starting cornerback L’Jarius Sneed tallied seven tackles and defended one pass in a 30-27 road win over the Las Vegas Raiders, while Bears starting safety Xavier Woods made three tackles in the win against the Jets.
App State alum and Colts starting inside linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither made eight tackles in the win over the Commanders, while South Alabama product and Commanders’ all-pro safety Jeremy Reaves made eight tackles in the contest.
Troy alum and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Reddy Steward made his first start of the season and added four tackles in a 34-30 road win over the Houston Texans.
