Texas State's Tovar & Southern Miss' Urban Secure Sun Belt Baseball Weekly Accolades

NEW ORLEANS – Following standout efforts, Texas State’s Jesus Tovar and Southern Miss’ Joey Urban secure the Sun Belt baseball weekly accolades. 
 
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Jesus Tovar, Texas State 
(RS Jr., LHP – El Paso, Texas) 
 
Bobcats redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Jesus Tovar tossed 8.0 shutout innings in a series-clinching 5-0 victory over Gonzaga. The El Paso, Texas, native scattered three hits and a walk, while striking out six on the day. Tovar held opponents to a .125 batting average to improve to 2-0 on the season. He has yet to allow a run in 13.0 innings pitched. 
 
Baseball Player of the Week
Joey Urban, Southern Miss 
(Sr., OF – Jupiter, Fla.) 
 
Golden Eagles senior outfielder Joey Urban hit .462 (6-for-13) with an .846 on-base percentage in a 4-0 week for Southern Miss, including a three-game sweep at the Round Rock Classic. The Jupiter, Fla., product had a triple, a home run, two runs scored and seven RBI on the week. Urban drove in at least one run in all four games—including a four-RBI effort with two extra-base hits in a 9-4 win over then-No. 11 Oregon State.
