Georgia Southern Advances to Sun Belt Conference Women’s Tennis Championship Second Round

ROME, Ga. – Georgia Southern advanced its sticker on the bracket at the 2026 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in the first round on Wednesday.
 
No. 12 seed Georgia Southern (9-12) used the momentum from the early doubles point to secure the 4-1 victory over No. 13 seed Georgia State (5-14).
 
Georgia State’s Sveva Bernardi and Sara Radojevic won on court two 6-2 to start the doubles matches. Georgia Southern’s Franzi Heinemann and Nanake Kijima won 6-0 on court three as Angelina Mihajlovic and Evelyn Warkentin won 6-3 on court one to secure the early 1-0 advantage.
 
In singles, the Panthers tied the match at one as Maria Paredes earned the 6-1, 6-0 victory on court one. Amelie Rosadoro gave the Eagles the 2-1 advantage on court four as teammate Heinemann won 6-3, 6-2 on court three to put Georgia Southern one match away from advancing. Mihajlovic won her match 6-3, 6-2 on court two to send the Eagles to the next round.
 
Georgia Southern advances to face No. 5 seed Texas State at 10 a.m. ET in the Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship Second Round.
