ROME, Ga. – For the fourth time in as many years, the Monarchs from Old Dominion captured the 2026 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship Title on Sunday at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.
In a rematch from the title tilt a year ago, the Monarchs matched up with No. 10 seed Marshall, who entered the match having won three matches in three days, all via upset. The two teams met earlier in the year, with Old Dominion winning by a 4-3 margin in Huntington, West Virginia.
The Monarchs started the match with a dominant performance in doubles, as they did not trail on a single court. The duo of Uladzislava Manzhos and Marina Markina won on court two, 6-2. Lidiia Rasskouskaia and Ulyana Romanova secured the doubles point on court three, 6-4.
Leading 1-0, Old Dominion lost just two first sets as the first singles point came from Markina on court six, 6-0, 6-1. Rasskouskaia was the next to finish on court five, 6-1, 6-2, to give the Monarchs a 3-0 advantage. Kira Matushkina provided the clinching point on court one, 6-2, 6-0, to give Old Dominion its fourth Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship crown in as many years.
Old Dominion earns the Sun Belt Conference’s automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament, as the Monarchs earn their seventh consecutive bid to the tournament. The NCAA Tournament selection show is slated for Monday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
