About the R+L Carriers NEW ORLEANS BOWL
The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl is an annual college football bowl game played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The bowl has been in existence since 2001. The game was previously known as the Wyndham New Orleans Bowl from 2001 through 2004. R+L Carriers replaced Wyndham as the title sponsor in 2006. In 2005, the game was moved from New Orleans to Lafayette, La. due to Hurricane Katrina damage sustained at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Sun Belt Conference has sent a team to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl since the inaugural game in 2001. Teams from the Sun Belt Conference have combined to win the last six New Orleans Bowls. The 2013 match-up between the Ragin’ Cajuns of UL Lafayette and Tulane had a record-breaking crowd of 54,728, one of the highest attended bowl match-ups of that season.
