WKU, Troy Winners in Men's Basketball Saturday; USA's Rubit Sets Sun Belt Rebounding Record

Troy 74, Belhaven 62
TROY, Ala. -- Jeff Mullahey scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Troy University to a 74-62 comeback win over Belhaven on Saturday.
 
Troy (5-7) trailed 35-31 at the break but used a 24-14 second half rebounding advantage to take control of the game, seizing the lead on a Hunter Williams 3-pointer to hold off Belhaven down the stretch.
 
Antoine Myers contributed 21 points for the Trojans, while Williams added 12 and Josh Warren hauled in 10 rebounds.
 
Belhaven shot 50 percent from the field in the first half before going cold after the break, hitting just 10 of 28 from the floor. Curt Hall led the Blazers with 17 points and five rebounds.
 
The game was the final non-conference matchup for Troy and counted as an exhibition for Belhaven, an NAIA team that notched its fourth straight loss.
 
WKU 103, Brescia 65
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- George Fant scored 23 points with seven rebounds and three assists to lead Western Kentucky to a 103-65 victory over Brescia Saturday night.
 
Western Kentucky (8-4) won its third straight and is 7-0 at home. Fant scored 19 points in the first half as the Hilltoppers jumped to a 45-29 halftime lead and never trailed against Brescia of the NAIA.
 
T.J. Price and Trency Jackson each scored 19 points for WKU. Price was 7 of 9 from the floor and hit three 3-pointers. Price has made at least one 3-pointer in 26-straight games. Jackson was 6 of 10 from the floor, including two 3-pointers. All 14 players scored for the Hilltoppers.
 
Jermain Langley scored 16 points, and Trey Howard added 10 to lead Brescia. Decarlos Collier made a layup to help the Bearcats tie the game at 10. The Hilltoppers answered with a 14-2 run.
 
New Mexico State 82, South Alabama 64
LAS CRUSES, N.M. -- University of South Alabama senior Augustine Rubit became the all-time leading rebounder in Sun Belt Conference history, but New Mexico State placed four players in double-digit points and dealt the Jaguars an 82-64 loss Saturday night at the Pan American Center.
 
D.K. Eldridge scored 16 points with 12 rebounds and Daniel Mullings added 18 points for the Aggies (11-5). Tshilidzi Nephawe scored 12 points with nine rebounds and K.C. Ross-Miller had 10 points and 10 assists. New Mexico State hit 63.5 percent from the field overall and sank 65 percent from the line.
 
The Aggies jumped to a 19-9 lead halfway through the first period and maintained a double-digit lead into the break, 37-26. Early in the second, Ross-Miller hit a layup, a free throw, and one from beyond the arc within 20 seconds to extend the New Mexico State lead to 16. The Aggies never looked back.
 
The Jaguars (6-7) were just 43 percent from the field. Augustine Rubit led the team with 11 points and six rebounds
