Memphis (2-0) got on the board in the 38th minute when Jessica Lisi struck for her first goal of the year. WHAT HEAD COACH BRIAN DUNLEAVY SAID
"It was a really good result for us today. I was really excited with the grit and determination our team showed. We had to really grind it out on a very hot day with limited subs. We only had five players available on the bench, but our players worked extremely hard. They did all the dirty work and it was not a pretty game. It was very physical and we had to win a lot of tackles and headers. Frida scored a great goal and Lauren posted a shutout on the other end was what really sealed the deal for us today."

"Credit goes to Kennesaw State in the first half, they had four chances and they took them all. We created an environment where we had to come from behind, but it's always good to see a team come from the bottom and battle for something"

Cajuns Drop Match 3-1 At Lamar
BEAUMONT, TEXAS – Louisiana's women's soccer dropped their second match of the season, falling 3-1 to the Lamar Cardinals here at the Lamar Soccer Complex.
After the first weekend of play the Ragin' Cajuns record, sits at 0-2-0. While the Cardinals improve to 2-0-0 having won their season opener on Friday.
Freshman Grace Champagne got on the board with a goal for the Cajuns in the 40th minute. It was Champagne's first of her young career and for Louisiana it was their first goal of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (First Half) – Fresh off her eight second half saves in the game against Baylor, freshman Victoria Ryan got the nod in goal to start the match and she watched her teammates put pressure on early with senior Denice Emokpae getting a shot in the first minute.
Freshman Una Einarsdottir put the Cajuns first shot on goal quickly after Emokpae's quick start, getting on the stat sheet in the eighth minute.
But Lamar didn't sit back and rest, putting their own pressure on the Cajuns and in the ninth minute Cardinal's Juliana Ocampo got Lamar on the board with a shot inside the far post making the score 1-0.
In the 17th minute the Cajuns added to their own deficit, allowing an own goal to sneak past Ryan to put Lamar up 2-0 early in the match.
Ryan didn't let herself get out of the game, and she recorded her first save of the match in the 34th minute, and her aggressive play in goal energized the Cajuns to finish the half strong.
Louisiana kept a good work ethic up for the remainder of the half and junior Sarah Kozlowski's wide right shot was followed up by senior Kimberly Grasso putting the Cajuns second shot on goal, all inside the 37th minute.
Grasso wasn't done being a force for the Cajuns, and when she sent a cross into the box in the 40th minute Champagne nailed the shot into the top of the net beating Lamar goalkeeper, Lauren Lovejoy, high to put the Cajuns on the board before the half.
The first half came to an end after an exciting 45 minutes of action with the score 2-1 in favor of Lamar.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Second Half) – The second half started with Ryan continuing her aggressive play. And in the 51st minute Ryan made a great play coming off her line to attack Lamar's forwards and she showed determination to keep the Cardinals from adding to their lead.
The first ten minutes of the half was an end-to-end affair and in the 60th minute, sophomore Erika Sierra got possession off the left side and dribbled around a defender to put a shot from outside the box on goal for the Cajuns.
Lamar's continued pressure finally did the Cajuns in, when in the 64th minute a turnover from the Cajuns defense lead to a shot from Lucy Ashworth sneaking underneath Ryan to put the Cardinals up 3-1.
As the match came to an end, the Cajuns didn't stop fighting and they made sure to keep play in Lamar's final third.
Emokpae ripped a shot that was blocked in the 78th minute, and in the final two minutes both senior Whitney Taggart (89th) and Einarsdottir (90th) each had shots blocked making sure the Cardinals didn't walk away without working hard all the way till the final whistle.

THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Richard Moodie
Overall thoughts on the game: "It's not a good result because we didn't win, but I think it's a respectable result considering we took on the Nos. 10 and 15 teams back to back in the same weekend. It was a fair result, perhaps, based on the number of shots and the pressure they put on us. I think we kept them quiet and frustrated them, and I think they were lucky the game ended when it did because I think we could have come back. I'm proud of the girls' efforts, 100 percent. They never gave up and they kept working."
On the differences between the second half and first half: "We were trying to get it to where the game was going to open up, to where we were able to play a little more and not be down a goal or two like we were at Auburn. I thought we did a good job of doing that in the first half, then they scored a couple. It's almost nervy right now for the girls, trying to get into the game. Once we relaxed and settled, we were good. It was a much more relaxed performance from the girls and they were focused. There was no halftime speech to motivate them; we told them to get the first goal and go from there. Once we got it, I thought could have maybe pushed and had another chance, and the game ended with them running the ball into the corners and I think that's a sign of respect."
On Followwell's goal: "Chelsea had been out of the game with a pretty severe injury and we were going to keep her out of the game, but she said she wanted to go back in. That says it all about her mentality and attitude. The ball broke loose for her, and Chelsea, from that range, was able to punish them. It was a great strike and a fantastic goal – she deserved it."
On Florida State's two goals: "It was a different story than the Auburn game – I thought we did a good job marking and pressing around the (penalty) area. We didn't allow shots from that 30-35 yard range, and if we did, there was a blue shirt in front of it. I don't think we were giving away the right to the players to just aim and fire. We struggled to clear the first ball and weren't in a good position to get the second ball, and they just kept applying pressure. That's the story of how the goals came about. They pressed and pressed, got in a few crosses, we weren't able to clear our line and it dropped right to them. I think we could've done a better job of clearing the ball, but good players in that position are going to score goals."
Bobcats and Lady Techsters Battle to 1-1 Draw
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against a tough Louisiana Tech squad on a hot Sunday afternoon at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
For the season, the Bobcats are now 0-1-1 while the Lady Techsters are 1-0-1.
LA Tech maintained possession in the early portion of the first half and found a breakthrough just over halfway into the 20th minute. Nomvula Kgoale blasted a shot from 25 yards out into the upper right corner after Heather Martin punched the ball away on a cross attempt.
A little over four minutes later, Rachel Grout sent in a corner kick from the left side that found its way to Brooke Ramsey in the right side of the penalty box. The senior midfielder then rocketed a shot into the upper left corner of the goal for TXST's first of the season and to knot the score 1-1.
The second half saw the Lady Techsters outshoot the Bobcats 10-3 but held just a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal. TXST's only shot on goal in the period came in the 48th minute by Renny Moore.
Over the two overtime periods, the Bobcats held a 2-1 lead in shot attempts with every shot being recorded in the second extra period. Kaylee Davis had a shot get blocked out of bounds for a corner kick in the 102nd minute. As the LA Tech defense tried to clear the in-swinging ball, Kira Zapalac got her foot on it but sailed it over the net.
Pacing the Bobcats with two shots apiece were Kassi Hormuth, Jordan Kondikoff and Davis. In goal, Martin started for the second straight game and made three saves. Kathryn Budde stopped two shots while playing the final 65 minutes in net.
