PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josh Ajayi, South Alabama (Sr., F, El Monte, Calif.)
South Alabama senior forward Josh Ajayi continued his stellar season, helping the Jaguars split a pair of matchups over teams that were atop the Sun Belt standings. Ajayi began his week by recording his seventh double-double of the season with a 19-point, 10-rebound performance against Georgia State. Against the Panthers, Ajayi was 8-of-14 from the field and six of his 10 boards came off the defensive glass. He helped South Alabama rally back from a 10-point, second-half deficit to defeat then-Sun Belt co-leader Georgia Southern. In the win, Ajayi scored a game-high 24-points, his sixth game of 20 or more points this season, and pulled down eight rebounds. He was 8-of-10 from the field and knocked down all eight of his free throw attempts, while also drawing six fouls in the post. Of his 24 points, 14 came in the second half as he was 5-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-4 at the foul line. For the week, Ajayi nearly averaged a double-double with 21.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor knocking down 16 of his 24 shot attempts. He was also 11-of-14 at the charity stripe and added a pair of steals. This marks Ajayi's third career Sun Belt Player of the Week honor and his second this season.
