SUN BELT ANNOUNCES
MEN'S SOCCER 2020 POSTSEASON HONORS
Player of the Year
George Proctor, Georgia State
(#16, Sr, D - Leeds, England)
Proctor led a Georgia State backline that allowed just six goals in 11 matches this season, including six shutouts, while scoring a pair of goals and adding two assists. The senior has earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors three times this year, including the final two weeks of the season, keying the Panthers to a pair of crucial victories in their final two matches. He's currently in top 5 in the Sun Belt and
tied for 13th in the country in total assists. Proctor is in the top 10 in the SBC in goals and tied for 18th in the nation. The junior from England is also in the top 25 nationally in points.
Offensive Player of the Year
Aris Briggs, Georgia State
(# 31, Sr, F - Memphis, Tenn.)
Senior Aris Briggs picked up right where he left off in 2019. The defending 2019 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year and 2020 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year leads the Sun Belt and the nation with 13 points, while sharing the total goals (5) lead with teammate Matthew Fearnley. Briggs is tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead and is fourth in the nation in total assists (3). The junior from Memphis anchors a frontline that leads the NCAA in total goals and total points.
Defensive Player of the Year
George Proctor, Georgia State

Senior defender George Proctor led the Georgia State backline which allowed just six goals in 11 matches this season, including six clean sheets. He added a pair of goals and two assists. Proctor has earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors three times this year, including the final two weeks of the season, keying the Panthers to a pair of crucial victories in the final two matches. He currently sits tied for 13th in the country in total assists (top 5 in the Sun Belt) and is tied for 18th in the nation in goals (top 10 in the league). The junior from England ranks in the top 25 nationally in points and in the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Newcomer of the Year
Tor Saunders, Coastal Carolina
(#1, Sr, GK - Bothell, Wash.)
Saunders stepped into the goalie position and the Coastal defense did not miss a beat. The senior from Washington state posted three shutouts in the Chants' six matches and has played every minute this season in goal giving up only five goals total. He is second in the SBC saves (23), second in saves percentage (.821), third in goals-against average (0.81), and fourth in saves per game (3.83).
Freshman of the Year
Jason Kemble, Coastal Carolina
(#14, Fr, M - Conway, S.C.)
Kemble has been a solid performer for the Chants during his first season on the pitch. He started all six matches this season and while he has not scored, Kemble has done a masterful job of defending, controlling the ball and setting up runs from his midfield position.
Coach of the Year
Shaun Docking, Coastal Carolina
In his 22nd season at Coastal Carolina, Docking led the Chants (5-1) to their third regular-season Sun Belt Conference Championship and 15th overall regular-season title.
