FOLEY, Ala. – The Southern Miss women won the 2022 Sun Belt Women's Cross Country Championship on Friday at Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley. It marked the first time in school history that the Golden Eagles have earned a Sun Belt Conference Title. 

Coastal Carolina junior Molly Jones shattered the previous Sun Belt Conference record en route to winning the women's 5K individual title. She ran 16:29.5 to win her first career conference cross country title with a fifth place finish in 2021. Jones broke the previous conference record of 16:51.5, set by Arkansas State's Pauline Meyer last year.

The Southern Miss women earned their first team championship. The Golden Eagles scored 44 points, while Arkansas State was second with 71 and James Madison was third with 83. Marshall (104) and App State (117) also finished in the top-five.
