FOLEY, Ala. – Lidia Nduka scored the game-winner in the second overtime to send No. 4 seed James Madison to its first Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship as they defeated No. 8 seed Georgia State 1-0 Friday night.
The Dukes (12-3-5) advance to the championship match on, November 6 at 1 p.m. CST at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala. They will play No. 6 seed Old Dominion in the first match since the “Royal Rivalry” was announced. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Georgia State (9-7-5) totaled eight shots in the match, however keeper Jaddah Foos was stellar in goal with nine saves. The junior keeper finishes the tournament with 16 saves, and the nine in tonight’s match marked a season high. She totaled 75 on the year and added a save in every period of the match against James Madison.
James Madison controlled possession of the match with a 60-40 advantage. The Dukes outshot the Panthers 13-10 throughout the match, and placed 10 shots on frame. Nduka led the way with four as Amanada Attanasi placed three on frame. The game-winner came in the 104
th minute as a shot from Mia Pham was saved by Foos but found the feet of Nduka who put the game-winner in the back of the net. Nduka scored her sixth goal of the season and third game-winning goal of her career.
