Four All-Americans Highlight Sun Belt Men’s Soccer Postseason Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Fifteen Sun Belt Men’s Soccer student-athletes have received United Soccer Coaches postseason honors, the organization announced this week. Four players also garnered All-America recognition to highlight the Sun Belt’s postseason awards. 
 
Kentucky’s Eythor Bjorgolfsson, Luis Grassow and Casper Mols all received All-America First Team recognition while Marshall’s Milo Yosef earned a spot on the All-America Second Team. 
 
Bjorgolfsson demonstrated an impressive career as a Wildcat playing in 68 matches with 43 starts totaling 3,808 minutes on the pitch in his four years in Lexington. The senior has been a force to reckon with on the attack with 24 goals, tying sixth in all-time career goal scorers for the program. His 10 game-winning goals places him in third overall. The Jessheim, Norway native has received numerous honors throughout the 2022 campaign including Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Sun Belt First Team honors and Sun Belt All-Tournament honors. Bjorgolfsson was also selected to participate in the 2022 adidas MLS College Showcase this week in Raleigh, N.C.
 
Grassow, a native of Munich, Germany, completed a decorated senior campaign, finishing his season on the pitch as the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year as well as a Sun Belt First Team and Sun Belt All-Tournament honoree. The senior captain was also named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American for the 2022 season. The defender has played 59 matches for Kentucky with 56 starts totaling 5,057 minutes on the pitch. Throughout his Wildcat career, the senior defender has contributed to over 20 shutouts.
 
Kentucky’s freshman keeper Casper Mols takes a spot on the All-America First Team after an impressive season in the net. The Sun Belt Goalkeeper of the Year earned a starting position at an early point in his collegiate career, recording 28 saves in 16 matches with seven clean sheets for the Cats. Mols put up strong statistics throughout his freshman campaign, which included an 11-1-4 record in goal with only 12 goals allowed.
 
Marshall’s Milo Yosef was named to the All-America Second Team following a standout senior season for the Herd. The forward from Aachen, Germany, won several awards during the 2022 campaign including the Sun Belt Men's Soccer Player and Offensive Player of the Year awards. Yosef tallied eight goals this season, third most in the conference, including a Sun Belt-best four game-winning goals. The redshirt senior was also sixth in the conference in points per game (1.12) and third in the conference in shots per game at 2.94 with 50 shots this season. In the Marshall record book, Yosef currently ranks fifth in program history with 27 goals, tied for third with 18 career assists and tied for third with 72 career points. 
 
Bjorgolfsson, Grassow, and Yosef were also named 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalists this week. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967. 

United Soccer Coaches also released its All-Region teams for the 2022 season. Fifteen Sun Belt men’s soccer student-athletes earned a spot on the All-Southeast Region Teams, including seven First Team honorees. The full list of award winners can be found below.
