NEW ORLEANS — The Sun Belt Conference was well-represented among
Collegiate Baseball All-America selections. Texas State’s Tristan Stivors picked up his third First Team All-America nod, with the Sun Belt’s four “of the Year” award winners joining him in receiving national recognition.
Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year Reid VanScoter of Coastal Carolina and Sun Belt Player of the Year Dalton Shuffield of Texas State earned Second Team All-America recognition, while Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year Max Ryerson of Georgia State was listed on the Third Team.
Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Austin St. Laurent of App State was honored as a Freshmen All-American.
Stivors, a senior relief pitcher, carried a staff-low 2.21 ERA during his senior campaign, while leading the nation with 18 saves and boasting a 7-1 mark on the hill. He held opposing hitters to a .210 batting average and struck out 86.
VanScoter, a redshirt senior starting pitcher, tallied nine wins in 16 starts, carrying a 3.65 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .247 batting average. He struck out 85 over 88.2 innings pitched during his redshirt senior season. Senior shortstop Shuffield hit .378 and slugged .668, while amassing 78 runs scored, 48 RBI, 20 doubles and 13 home runs.
Junior outfielder Ryerson hit .335 and slugged .705, accumulating 62 RBI, 45 runs scored, 17 doubles and 22 home runs. St. Laurent, a redshirt freshman utility man, hit .305 with 32 runs scored, 25 RBI and 13 doubles.
