Arkansas State’s Pyeatt & Southern Miss’ Kaylor Named Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Arkansas State’s Jacob Pyeatt and Southern Miss’ Maria Kaylor each led their squads with top marks to earn Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week honors. 
 
Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Jacob Pyeatt, Arkansas State

Arkansas State’s Jacob Pyeatt recorded his second straight top-10 finish with a career-best performance on Friday at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, helping Arkansas State place ninth in a field of 38 teams. Pyeatt ran a personal-best 22:46.2 - nearly 50 seconds faster than his previous career best - and placed ninth out of 370 finishers in the men's 8K and was one of seven runners on A-State's men's team to record a career-best mark in the race.
 
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Maria Kaylor, Southern Miss

Southern Miss’ graduate student Maria Kaylor led the Golden Eagles with an impressive performance at the Crimson Classic on Friday morning in Tuscaloosa. Kaylor finished 20th overall with a time of 20:28.8, outpacing competitors from three Sun Belt conference teams. She was the only runner from those teams to finish within top 50.
