NEW ORLEANS – The Arkansas State men’s basketball team will be competing in the postseason after accepting an invitation to represent the Sun Belt Conference in the 2024 College Basketball Invitational (CBI).
The Red Wolves are seeded fourth in the 15-team field and will challenge Bethune-Cookman (17-16) in the tournament’s first round on Saturday, March 23. Tipoff is scheduled for noon (CT) at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. The tournament runs from March 23-27, and the first two rounds of games will be streamed live on FloSports, with the semifinals and finals to be carried nationally on ESPN2.
The Sun Belt Conference has now had a team compete in the CBI in four of the last five seasons.
Led by first-year head coach Bryan Hodgson, Arkansas State owns an 18-16 overall record and used a late-season run to win eight of its final 10 games and reach the 2024 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Championship title game.
The Red Wolves are led by 2024 All-Sun Belt Conference First Team selection and senior guard Caleb Fields who led the league with 5.8 assists per contest, as junior guard Taryn Todd earned a third team nod.
Arkansas State’s 18 wins are its most in a season since the 2016-17 campaign.
