NEW ORLEANS – Mercer junior Kathryn Corbett and freshman Liv Diaz earned Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week honors after posting a 3-1 record and leading the Bears to three wins.

The weekly accolade is the first by a Mercer duo since joining the Sun Belt as an affiliate member for beach volleyball prior to the league’s inaugural 2023 campaign.

Corbett and Diaz collected a trio of victories at the University of North Florida Invitational where the tandem defeated New Orleans, College of Charleston and UAB in straight sets, respectively. Their three wins helped the Bears clinch wins over those three opponents, as the pair has now won six of their last seven matches playing at the No. 4 spot in the lineup.

In the tandem’s lone defeat in the tournament, Corbett and Diaz forced host North Florida to a decisive third set after taking the first frame, 21-14.

Mercer has won seven of its last eight matches and travels to Columbia, S.C. to compete in the Palmetto Invitational April 6-7 at Wheeler Beach.
