Louisiana’s Robinson & App State’s Smith Named Sun Belt Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana’s Mari Robinson and App State’s Taylor Smith each finished atop the podium in multiple events to earn Sun Belt Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week honors. 

Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Mari Robinson, Louisiana

Louisiana senior sprinter Mari Robinson won both the 100m (11.42) and 200m (23.36) at the Warhawk Invitational. The senior's times were the 2nd-best in both events in the SBC this spring. She also moved up the Louisiana record book to 4th in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m.

Taylor Smith, App State

App State senior Taylor Smith garnered a trio of first place finishes and facility records at the App State Open on April 26-27. Smith landed first in the women's long jump with a personal best leap of 6.32m/20-9, which moved her to second in the App State all-time list. Smith also took first in the women's 100m with a personal best time of 11.53, which moved her to fourth in the program all-time list. Additionally, Smith ran the third leg of the women's 4x100-meter relay, helping the quartet to a time of 44.85 and a first-place finish. Smith ranks second in the SBC, fourth in the Southeast Region, 18th on the NCAA East Prelim Qualifying List, and 41st in the NCAA overall in the women's long jump category. Smith also stands 16th in the women's 100 meters and rounds out the top-20 in the women's 200 meters in the Southeast Region. As a member of the women's 4x100-meter relay team, she ranks fourth in the league, 15th in the Southeast Region, and 45th in the NCAA East Prelim Qualifying List.
