Texas State’s Parra and Roberts Sweep Sun Belt Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana’s Isabelle Russell and Georgia Southern’s Imani Moore earned recognition as the Sun Belt Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performance last week.

Abigail Parra, Texas State

Texas State’s Abigail Parra broke her own school record in the Invitational section of the women's 1500 at the Bryan Clay Invite with a time of 4:18.87. Her time bested her previous PR of 4:24.27 by nearly six seconds and she now leads the SBC by nearly 8 seconds.

Texas State’s Lara Roberts had an outstanding week in the hammer for the Bobcats, recording the NCAA-leading mark in the event not once but twice. In her first appearance in California at the Pacific Coast Invite, she recorded a PR and NCAA #1 mark of 70.34m in the hammer throw. She became the first athlete this season to record a mark over 70 meters, which she did twice at the PC invite and bested her previous PR of 67.40m. In her second appearance at the Mt. SAC Relays, she extended her leading mark when she recorded a throw of 70.97m and placed 2nd in the event. Roberts' mark was the sixth-best throw in TXST history, and she became the only NCAA athlete this season to record multiple marks over 70 meters. She placed 2nd at the Mt.SAC Relays behind Olympic Champion Camryn Rogers
