Bracket Set for 2024 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship

NEW ORLEANS – Seeds and matchups for the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship were announced Saturday evening following the conclusion of the regular season. 
 
The Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship will take place from May 8-11 at the Bobcat Softball Stadium on the campus of Texas State in San Marcos, Texas with 10 teams competing in the single-elimination tournament. 
 
No. 17 Louisiana (40-16, 22-2 SBC) concluded the regular season with its 89th consecutive conference series victory, securing its fifth straight and 20th all-time Sun Belt regular-season title and the No. 1 seed as the top finisher in the Sun Belt. The Ragin’ Cajuns, now winners of 31 of the past 35 games since March 3, reached the 40-win mark for the 25th consecutive season. 
 
Texas State (42-13, 18-6 SBC) earns the No. 2 seed after finishing the regular season with a 5-0 win over Marshall, sweeping the series against the Thundering Herd and ending on a five-game win streak. 
 
Due to James Madison and ULM’s identical conference records and identical records against all common conference opponents, a coin flip was utilized as the final tiebreaker to determine the No. 6 seed in the Sun Belt Softball Championship. ULM won the coin flip and will be the No. 6 seed. 
 
No. 3 seed South Alabama, No. 4 seed Coastal Carolina, No. 5 seed Troy and No. 6 seed ULM will earn byes into the championship bracket, while No. 7 seed Georgia Southern will take on No. 10 seed Marshall in the first round along with No. 8 seed James Madison and No. 9 seed Southern Miss.   
 
All nine tournament games will be nationally broadcast on ESPN+, concluding with the championship game at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 11.
