NEW ORLEANS – Marshall’s Kylee Mastin and App State’s Lilly Nichols earned recognition as the Sun Belt Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performance last week.

Kylee Mastin, Marshall

Marshall’s Kylee Mastin set two personal records at the Vanderbilt Classic over the weekend to win her second consecutive weekly honor. To start the weekend, Mastin was part of the DMR team Friday, where her and her teammates set a new school record time of 11:42.46 to finish second. Mastin then raced a personal and SBC-best 3K time of 9:26.76 to finish 3rd at the Vanderbilt Classic. Mastin currently leads the conference in Mile, 3K, and DMR time.
Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Lilly Nichols, App State

In her debut, App State freshman Lilly Nichols shattered the App State program, Sun Belt regular season, and U20 Polish indoor women’s pole vault records with a personal best clearance of 4.26m (13’ 11.75”) at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 17-18 in Blacksburg, Va. She finished fourth overall in Saturday’s pole vault event. The previous App State record was 4.06m (13’ 3.75”), which was set in 2004 and matched in 2024 by current Mountaineer Ava Studney. The previous Sun Belt season record was 4.20m (13’ 9.25”), set in 2017 by UTA’s Helen Falda, and the previous U20 Polish record was 4.22m (13’ 10”), set in 2015 by Kamila Przybyla. At the time of nomination, Nichols leads the Sun Belt, ranks fifth in the NCAA Southeast Region, and stands 16th in the NCAA in the women’s indoor pole vault.
