NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion’s Connor Van Schalkwyk and James Madison’s Elena Kraleva each went undefeated in league singles action to earn Sun Belt Conference Tennis Players of the Week honors.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Connor Van Schalkwyk, Old Dominion

Old Dominion’s Connor Van Schalkwyk won a pair of singles matches for the Monarchs to help lead ODU to two Sun Belt Conference wins over the weekend. Van Schalkwyk cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Coastal Carolina and knocked off Georgia Southern’s Pol Del Castillo at No. 2 singles to open the weekend, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Elena Kraleva, James Madison

James Madison’s Elena Kraleva went a combined 4-0 to lead JMU to a pair of Sun Belt victories over Southern Miss (4-0) and #60 South Alabama (4-1). She turned in identical 6-2, 6-1 victories in both matches, defeating USM's Malannia Vashkevich and South Alabama's Rio Maeda. Her finish was the fastest in Saturday's win over the Golden Eagles and her Sunday result extended JMU's lead to 3-1. In doubles, she teamed with Mia Saveljic for a pair of wins, clinching the doubles points both days. In both of the outings, the duo broke the opposing team's serve late in the match to pull out the 7-5 and 6-4 victories.
