FOLEY, Ala. – For the third consecutive season, top-seeded Coastal Carolina and second-seeded Georgia State each won a pair of matches on Thursday and have punched their tickets to the semifinal round of the 2025 Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Championship at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.
 
The top seed for the first time, Coastal Carolina received a first-round bye before defeating No. 4 seed Mercer, 3-2, in round two with a trio of straight-set victories. Two-time reigning champion Georgia State defeated No. 7 seed College of Charleston, 4-1, in the first round before earning four straight-set wins in a 4-1 victory over No. 3 seed UNCW in the second round.
 
The Chanticleers and Panthers will meet at 3 p.m. CT Friday with a trip to the championship match on the line.
 
Mercer got the day started with a 4-1 win over No. 5 seed ULM for its second first round win in as many seasons, while UNCW topped No. 6 seed Southern Miss, 5-0 in its first match of the day.
 
The Sun Belt Conference Championship features a double-elimination format and the loser’s bracket will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. CT. All of Friday’s matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
