NEW ORLEANS – ULM senior forward Skylar Blaise and Texas State freshman goalkeeper Brooklyn Escobar secured Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors following the first week comprising two league matches in 2025.
 
Blaise earns Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week recognition for the first time in her career and becomes the first Warhawk to do so since Janet Stopka on Sept. 19, 2023. Escobar collects the first Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week nod by a Bobcat this season and the first since Katelyn Chrisman received the accolade in back-to-back weeks to close the 2024 campaign.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Skylar Blaise, ULM

Blaise registered five points on two goals and one assist in a pair of conference victories for ULM. She assisted on the Warhawks’ first goal before scoring an unassisted goal less than one minute later to tie the score, 2-2, in an eventual 3-2 home win over Marshall (9/18). Blaise closed out the week by scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 road victory at Arkansas State (9/21). She is now tied for the conference lead in game-winning goals (3) and ranks second in goals scored (6) and third in shots on goal (16) this season.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Brooklyn Escobar, Texas State

Escobar recorded her first two collegiate shutouts in helping Texas State win both of its conference matches. She began the week by recording three of her four saves in the second half of a 1-0 win at Georgia Southern (9/18). Escobar needed to make only one save in a 1-0 home win over Troy (9/21). The save came on a shot by Jiselle Daniels, the conference's leading goal scorer, in the 61st minute where Escobar made a one-handed, diving stop to redirect the ball past the post.
