NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana’s Henry Lyon and Southern Miss’ Piers Cameron have earned recognition as the Sun Belt Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances over the last week.
Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Henry Lyon, Louisiana

Making his debut in the men's 3,000 meters, Louisiana’s Henry Lyon, the East Carolina/Penn State transfer, broke a 43-year-old school record with a time of 8:01.28 to claim the overall title at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational in Columbia, Mo. The senior led Louisiana to a 1-2-3 finish in the event with his time eclipsing the previous school record of 8:02.08 set by Ian Wilkinson in 1983.
Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Piers Cameron, Southern Miss

Southern Miss’ Piers Cameron has earned his third consecutive win in the shot put event with a throw of 19.03m/62-5.25, remaining undefeated in the current 2026 indoor season. Cameron's win is one of seven Southern Miss brought home over the weekend from the Jaguar Invitational.
