NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss’ Sakura Sudo and James Madison’s team of Sophie Williams and Brooklyn Hoffmann earned Sun Belt Conference Women’s Tennis Players of the Week honors. 

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Sakura Sudo, Southern Miss

Southern Miss’ Sakura Sudo clinched both the doubles point and the match-winning singles point in the Golden Eagles’ 4-3 win over Georgia Southern. Sudo won her doubles match by a 6-2 scoreline. After earning the doubles point, the sophomore followed with a 6-3, 7-6 (7) win on court two that secured the match.

Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Sophie Williams / Brooklyn Hoffmann, James Madison
 
James Madison’s Sophie Williams and Brooklyn Hoffmann extended their doubles win streak to five in a row with a pair of wins on court one last week. They opened the trip with a dominant 6-0 win against William & Mary’s Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson. JMU would go on to win the doubles point, which would prove important in a 4-3 road win. The following day, the duo defeated Drexel’s Adva Dabah and Lorie Lemongo in a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point.
