Georgia Southern & Troy Represent Sun Belt in WBIT, Arkansas State, Marshall & South Alabama Earn Bids to WNIT

NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern and Troy are set to appear in the WBIT while Marshall, Arkansas State and South Alabama are set to represent the Sun Belt in the 2026 WNIT.

Georgia Southern earned an auto bid after winning the Sun Belt regular season title, entering the conference tournament as the No. 1 overall seed. The title marked the first time the program has won a conference regular season since 2001. Georiga Southern will face No. 2 Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.

Troy finished second in the regular season standings at 25-7, 15-3 in league play. As the No. 2 seed they were the runner-up in the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Tournament and make their third straight postseason appearance. The Trojans will face No. 2 Kansas at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Arkansas State (24-9, 14-4) and Marshall (23-9, 13-5) both earned first round byes while South Alabama (16-18, 5-13) will face Alcorn State in their opening round matchup on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.

Arkansas State will play the winner of Radford/Morehead State in the second round. While Marshall will play the winner of Ohio/UMBC.

After a four-game run in the conference tournament, South Alabama makes its first postseason appearance since 2019. The Jags are led by Cordasia Harris who averages 10.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

Arkansas State makes its second consecutive postseason appearance and ninth WNIT birth in program history. The Red Wolves enter the postseason with their most wins since the 2015-16 season and have already set program records for most three made and steals.

The Herd’s WNIT appearance will mark the sixth national postseason tournament appearance the Herd has made in program history across two trips to the NCAA Tournament, the WNIT, and WBI.
