NEW ORLEANS – Georgia State’s Maya Anderson and Texas State’s Elisabet Runarsdottir have earned recognition as the Sun Belt Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances over the last week.
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Maya Anderson, Georgia State

Georgia State sophomore Maya Anderson broke the program record and claimed the title in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.24 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Her time not only leads the league but ranks 37th nationally as well.
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Elisabet Runarsdottir, Texas State

Texas State senior thrower Elisabet Runarsdottir delivered a dominant weekend in the women’s hammer throw, capturing two first place finishes with throws exceeding 70 meters. She opened with a winning mark of 70.96m/232-10 at the Pacific Coast Invitational before following it up with a Sun Belt Conference and South Central Region leading throw of 72.89m/239-1 to win the Mt. SAC Relays Elite Invitational. Runarsdottir is the only athlete in both the conference and region to surpass 70 meters this season, and her 72.89 meter mark ranks second nationally. The performance also broke the Icelandic national record, marking the second time this season Runarsdottir has done so.
