NEW ORLEANS – Troy’s Aaliyah Murphy and Louisiana’s Kimola Hines have earned recognition as the Sun Belt Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances over the last week.

Aaliyah Murphy, Troy

Troy Sophomore Aaliyah Murphy shattered her own school record at the Penn Relays on Thursday, running a 58.71 in the 400m hurdles, the second-fastest time in the Sun Belt this season. The result placed Murphy 12th in the field at Franklin Field.
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Kimola Hines, Louisiana

Louisiana graduate thrower Kimola Hines became the second female athlete in school history to eclipse the 180-foot mark in the discus as her third-place throw of 180 feet, 4 inches (54.96m) at the LSU Alumni Gold meet was the best since Jo Jo Harris' school-record (180-11) throw in 1994. Her mark is the best in the Sun Belt Conference, 14th in the NCAA East Region and 29th nationally.
