NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference announced five staff promotions on Tuesday that include advancement for Bert Carter, Travis Llewellyn, Spencer Dodd, Catherine Krawiec and Donna O’Brien. These five staffers combine for 44 years of experience with the Sun Belt.
“I cannot imagine any more deserving individuals than Bert, Travis, Spencer, Cat and Donna. They are tremendous people who dedicate every day to creating exceptional opportunities for our students and making the Sun Belt better,” said Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill. “We’re grateful for their dedication.”
Bert Carter
Executive Associate Commissioner, Chief Financial Officer
Carter, who is in his 15th year with the Sun Belt Conference office after being named the league’s Associate Commissioner, Chief Financial Officer in 2006, has been promoted to Executive Associate Commissioner, Chief Financial Officer. Carter oversees all of the league’s finances, budgeting and business operations and serves as the league’s day-to-day liaison to the conference's third-party sponsorship and marketing rights holder. He is routinely involved in matters related to the Sun Belt Conference Executive Committee and the league’s Chief Executive Officers. Travis Llewellyn
Senior Associate Commissioner, Football and Broadcasting
Llewellyn, also in his 15th year at the league office, moves to the conference senior staff as the Senior Associate Commissioner, Football and Broadcasting. The Rockville, Maryland, native, joined the staff in 2006 as the Director of Multimedia/New Media and has elevated his position in that timeframe with increased responsibility. Llewellyn’s primary responsibilities include being the lead football administrator, overseeing the broadcasts for all sports and the conference’s new media efforts. He also manages the conference’s technology integration for its member institutions. Spencer Dodd
Associate Commissioner, Championships and Sport Administration
With the promotion announcement, Dodd, in his seventh year with the Sun Belt, was named the Associate Commissioner, Championships and Sport Administration. He joined the staff as an intern in the championships department in 2014 before being promoted to a full-time position in April 2015. Since that time, he has held Coordinator, Assistant Director, Director and Assistant Commissioner titles in the championships department. In his current role, Dodd, a native of Eagle, Idaho, is responsible for leading the championships department and oversees the championship administration and operations of all 18 championship events, while also working with the coaches, officials, and campus administration on regular-season operations for all 18 Sun Belt Conference sports. … Click here for Dodd’s full bio.
Catherine Krawiec
Assistant Commissioner, Championships and Sport Administration
Krawiec, who started with the Sun Belt in 2018, has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner, Championships and Sport Administration. In her role, Krawiec is responsible for assisting and leading championship administration and operations of all Sun Belt Championship events, while also working with the coaches, officials and campus administration. She also acts as the primary liaison for the league’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, working with student-athlete representatives from each SBC institution to develop and implement initiatives including community service, mental health, life-after-sport and the league’s Be The Change Initiative. Donna O’Brien
Executive Director of Administration
O’Brien, who is in her fourth year at the Sun Belt Conference office after joining the staff as the Director, Events and Office Coordinator in 2017, has been promoted to the Executive Director of Administration. In her role, O'Brien manages schedules and itineraries for the Commissioner, as well as assisting the conference’s Chief Financial Officer with accounting and business management.
