LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock's best season in program history came to an end Friday night in Fayetteville when they fell to a very talented Arkansas side 5-1 in their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
"Arkansas is a good side and they showed it," said Head Coach Mark Foster. "The second half we showed that we were a much better team that we were in the first half. Obviously when you get to this point you want to be at your best and we weren't at our best tonight."
The Razorbacks controlled the run of play from start to finish as they scored four times in under 15 minutes. Arkansas tacked on another goal before halftime to go into the break with a 5-0 lead.
Liesa Seifert scored the lone goal for the Trojans when her headed effort off a Morgan Smocovich corner found the top left corner of the net. Seifert's fifth goal of the season made the score 5-1 and that would prove to be the final result.
Jaclyn Purvine finishes her collegiate career with 21 goals which lands her in seventh place all-time for career goals at Little Rock and 7th all-time in assists with 11. Purvine racked up 53 points in her excellent career to put etch her name in the record books yet again as she finishes 8th all-time. Her 12-goal season places her fourth all-time for goals in season. Arola Aparicio Gili's 16 career goals puts her at 9th on the all-time list. The Spanish forward also tallied 11 assists to tie Purvine for 9th on the all-time list.
The Trojans graduate 10 seniors who finish their Little Rock career with the first Sun Belt championship in program history as the team would advance to their first NCAA Tournament. The team set the school record for wins in a season with 13 and clean sheets with 12.
